No nonsense wall-writings of an "AnJOLINA" Jolie fan and a Catholic school-girl gone bad. Both live in a world of endless changes joined by common ideals and opinions regarding things--bitchy, stupid and real.

Letters from the Fishbowl

Saturday, August 18, 2001
I don't feel like blogging now....but I will for the sake of doing it. So that our beloved "joint" won't feel neglected as it probably is feeling neglected because a certain guy hasn't been giving it the TLC it's been asking for. Just kidding, it's 11:10pm and it's probably the dramatic persona in me acting out (no pun intended, honest!).

Anyway, I just read your previous blog (aka letter to Cecille) and may I say that I miss the exact same things too?

1. Wagging/cutting class to go to Galleria/Megamall or to extend our Starbucks session
2. Making the effort of taking a Katipunan jeepney just to get our dose of eating out
3. Calling you up and whining the my computer got hit by a virus/my modem isn't working/my diskette won't work and trying to squeeze out a solution from you
4. Spending the entire 2 hour vacant period browsing through the magazine area of National Bookstore in Katipunan and making lait to the celebrities' outfits or hairstyles.
5. You being the only person to understand that I just have to have a grande rhumba frappuccino with power even if I have an exam or presentation in 20 minutes so we have to just pass by starbucks or else I just won't make it through the day.
6. Watching The Emperor's New Groove during my "offday" in Megamall and not caring that I had work at 5pm that afternoon (the shot to hell graveyard shift -- American time daw kasi) and simply LAUGHING our arses off that day (I haven't laughed harder since)
7. When eating at McDonald's we simply have to finish our fries first before eating our burger/spaghetti/whatever
8. How I could persuade you to pick me up from K-2 cos I didn't want to walk to CASAA to meet up (hahaha! - apparently it still works even without me -- re the FHM mag i sent you?)
9. Remember how I went with you on your field trip to Enchanted Kingdom 2 summers ago for your Physics class? As in, up to now, I can't remember why I agreed to pay P180.00 ba to go with you (did we take the bus? i can't remember) and then sit and wait in that Amazon-decked eatery while you rode the Space Shuttle alone cos I was too scared to ride it....and how you tolerated my whims to ride the carousel 5 times cos I found the carousel operator cute? (OK, that was pathetic, I admit).....
10. and of course, the favor of all favors, I asked you to print my program for my debut which brought you into so much trouble (and I harrassed you pa when we needed it na remember? nyark, I'm so embarrassed I did that! and my mom too!) with the scanning and all para lang matapos agad.....we did pay you diba? hahaha....just kidding, the program was something to remember. THANKS FOR THAT bestfriend Danes....

I'm so full of shit!

**I'm so full of shit. I found this in my drafts folder. I didn't get to send this to Cecille...

10:35 PM

Dear CE,

Hi!
It's been a while huh? A rough week I should say though I hope yours went well. Mine didn't actually. It was a shitty week and for sure the weeks coming. Anyway, tomorrow's a start of a new week. God, why aren't I excited for that? Will your eye laser surgery push through tomorrow? I do hope everything goes ok. Para naman you'd get to see me better.

I should be doing my thesis as in right this very moment. But instead I'm typing on these bullshit keys and writing a letter to you which I'm not sure when you'll ever get to read. I just don't feel like thinking about my thesis but I'd rather linger on how I feel tonight. Well, everything's a bit distorted and in limbo. While I think of what's bothering me I slowly emerge a pathetic reason why I feel so… I dunno if I should share every inch of the juicy details or not but I guess I can give you a sneak peak.

As one stupid candidate said in a pathetic beauty contest, "…change is inevitable, inevitable is change…", though I don't wholly agree with her due to her bad choice of words, grammar and syntax, the keyword there was CHANGE. Everything boils down to CHANGE. Its inevitable I agree, but it’s the drastic shifting of events that brings me a certain anxious feeling. So what point am I trying to drive at? Well, that we seldom get to talk anymore, meet and do things like before. I know there's work, there's Ish, and all things that make us slowly drift apart. They really come first I understand. And I should also understand that the world doesn't intend to revolve around me forever but should it ever stop revolving now when I'm not ready?

In a few month's time after we graduate, when you continue to go to work and I review for the board exams in September and work probably, I know things will even become more difficult. Will this then limit us to occasional texts and phone calls? Or go out to lunches or gimmicks whenever it fits all our hectic schedules? That's what I foresee…and it makes me sad.

So what do I miss about what we used to do? Our midday escapades from our lunches along Katips up to your whimsical spending at Galleria or Megamall. For even if you are "galit sa pera" we find humor in what we do. Especially when we go to the Gozum series of stores and laugh our asses out of their jolog wardrobe collections. I miss it when you and Geka practically dragged me out of my class just to buy you gals tickets to watch 'Warat' in Gale. Even when we had lunch in Chocolate Kiss and I ordered one slice of 'Pound Cake ala Mode' wherein the waiter assumed us to be a couple and gave us two spoons to share. Also our tri-weekly visits to the hairdressers from Propaganda up to David's wherein we have casually become friends with Raul and the ever fully booked Eva!

As I have mentioned it already, I miss your company my friend. I really do…especially when we, Geka, Adri, Nikki, Ate Che and sige na nga Jen are together. Perhaps I'm just blowing things out of proportion, or maybe I'm losing my mind. But maybe I'm right or I could be wrong. And again, I guess I just had too much coffee to drink....

I'm ALIVE!

Sorry for not blogging bitch. I'm not in my usual jovial mood lately to blog...
Aside from the fact that the server is down in the institute for all eternity and I have been doing some witch's brew in the lab, I'm reviewing for an exam tomorrow on Pysical Chemistry as part of the review classes that I have been taking.
Also, I have been studying at Starbucks for almost the whole week and I get home late (since I stay there till closing) and hence I cannot blog anymore from fatigue! :o)

So Ate Che is still waiting for my invitation huh? Sige, I'll let her wait more. Hehehehehe

Nikki, I think there is such a word or expression. I heard it being used to mean that you are so wasted for something...its Tagalog equivalent if I'm not mistaken is WINDANG! :o) LMAO!

NO FUN

You must know Daniel that it is simply no fun to be blogging all by myself. Can't you lift that butt of yours off that chem stool and away from that experiment to even just blog a line or two. Trust me, whatever it is whose temperature you're watching, won't blow up while you're typing your blog. But if you go back to the lab and find nothing but ashes and cinders, don't blame me. It was probably your co-researcher's experiment that went wrong.

10:01:00 PM

Burnt Out (is there such a word or expression?)

It took me approximately 17 minutes to think of an opening sentence ot this blog, but I've been unsuccessful. So instead, I'll just cut to the chase and say, I'm so tamad na with work but I read this quote from this book and well, it made me feel good after. :)

"Imagine life is a game in which you are juggling five balls. The balls are called work, family, health, friends, and integrity. And you're keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally come to understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls-family, health, friends, integrity-are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered. And once you truly understand the lesson of the five balls, you will have the beginnings of balance in your life."

-"Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by James Patterson

Fuck Wittage

I was reading Ate Che's blog and whoever invented this expression is just....i dunno, great! Haha, I love saying it, fuck wittage this, fuck wittage that! Helend Fielding probably did as Bridget Jones' seems to have said it 87 times in the book. I love the way it rolls off your tongue especially when you're in that pissed off mood and damn, it just makes you feel good to shout out: FUCK WITTAGE!

3:55:00 AM

Wednesday, August 15, 2001
3 minutes more and I'll be eating my microwave dinner of soy chiken, rice & vegetables. I wonder if I should follow Ate Che's diet ( i dunno if the link will actually appear....haha, so much for the IT dummy like me)....but it's just too hard. There's so much good food and oh, I'm beginning to be my Bridget Jones' self again (haha!)...Ate Che, try reading Edge of Reason (the sequel to BJD)....it's just as good. Oh, goody! It's 1:00pm....
8:00:00 PM

Waiting, Waiting

It's 12:27pm and I'm sitting on my desk munching away on Lay's (how come they make it so salty?) waiting for 1:00pm to come. That's my lunch break, and even though it's just for 30 mins, it's something I really look forward to everyday. At least, when I get back at 1:30pm, I feel somehow refreshed and eager to go back to work, knowing that 2 hours later, it's time to go home.

7:28:00 PM

For Ate Che

I tried out the links you put daniel (which, may I remind you are so lame, SAMPLE LINK? puwede bang pakipalitan please?) and I ended up in Ate Che's blog. Ate Che! Hello!!!!! How are you? Diba you blogged once dito? Di ka na nag blog ulit......oi, I read your blog sa site mo na you left kasi baka I would say na nakikisali ka sa amin. Hoy hoy hoy, the more bitches, the merrier noh!!!! hahaha, biro lang. Why don't you blog here as well, para naman hindi lang kami ni Daniel ang mukhang ewan dito hehehe....

My Girl

I'm feeling a bit lonely today.....and when I'm lonely I always think of this certain movie scene....this young girl attending an adult poetry class after her best friend died and reading her poem out aloud:

"Weeping willow with your tears running down ,
why do you always weep and frown?
Is it because he left you one day?
Is it because he could not stay?
He found shelter in your shade
You thought his laughter would never fade.
On your branches, he would swing
Do you long for the happiness that day would bring?
Weeping willow, stop your tears
for there is something to calm your fears;
If you think death has ripped you forever apart
I know he'll always be in your heart."

It was a pretty simple poem, no big words, no underlying tones. Just plain and simple...the words just hit you, the sentiments stare at you in the face. And clear as it was to see, Vada Sultenfuss was mourning. Her best friend had gone away.

I remember seeing that movie, My Girl in 6th grade with Allie and Marian Basa and Jade yata. It was in SM City pa nga. But that film has remained with me all these years. I wonder why. That scene also never, never, ever, fails to make me cry. Shallow I know, but true. It may not be an artsy fartsy film, but it's one that will be with me for many more years. Never mind the sequel, it was just rubbish. Have you seen either of the two flicks Daniel?

Recuerdo

Someone mailed a copy of the novel Recuerdo by Christina Pantoja Hidalgo to me on my birthday and I was wondering, what does recuerdo mean? Yeah, pardon my ignorance, but the only foreign language I learned was French so I have no idea what it means. Danes, you took Span right? If only I had my way, I would've taken up European Languages and after graduating I would've run off to Venice, Italy and spend the rest of my life there, waiting for my prince charming to take me on a gondola ride and kiss me under the Bridge of Sighs. Oops, I'm veering away from my topic.

After 65 pages, Recuerdo seems to be a very touchy-feely novel. Written in the same form as that chat/email trilogy I read last time by Nan McCarthy (Chat, Connect and Crash -- remember Danes? We went to Galleria or Megamall just so I could buy the last one) but this one on a more intimate and personal level. In the form of emails, the mother, who works in Thailand as a writer or researcher of some sort writes back to her daughter who lives with their grandmother in Manila. Although I've never been to Thailand, the way the mother talks about the place makes it seem like Manila. Noisy, crowded, full of life......which is the complete opposite of the sleepy town I live in right now. The mother rambles on about memories, her own, her mother's, and her grandmother's as if they happened yesterday. All that in the first 65 pages of a novel I know I will be reading tonight until my eyes close.

I know I'm still in the middle of Chocolat but I can't help it! I am addicted to the printed word.....I'm just hoping I don't mix the stories so Chocolat ends up having Manila or Bangkok as the setting -- that would totally take out the glamour in it don't you think, monsieur?

Techno Booboo

I'm sorry! I didn't know I published that blog twice.....I must've been incredibly impatient with the computer or something. anyway, it's a nice blog so dontcha think it's worth reading two times?

10:04:00 PM

I'm at work and yahoooo! My boss went to Sydney for a conference and won't be back till MOnday! but I'm still knee deep in stuff to do so oh well...but at least I can blog!!! hahahaha!!!!

But I’m a Cheerleader

Ohmygoodness.....my 10 and 11 year old cousins rented some videos tonight cos they don’t have class tomorrow. They borrowed Space Cowboys and But I’m a Cheerleader (which they probably thought was something similar to Bring It On -- which had them chanting for days after: “That’s alright, that’s ok, you’re gonna pump our gas someday!”) cos I think they’ve seen every film the video store had.

Well, well, well, were we in for a surprise! That 2nd movie was about homosexuality! OMG! It is hilarious but I still couldn’t get over the fact that Natasha Lyonne (American Pie) and Clea Duvall (The Faculty) had like, 5 makeout scenes! With tongue and all......o, ok, too graphic! Just imagine the horror on the faces of my cousins! Hahahaha, it was hilarious but I recommend you to not show this to kids as it may confuse their sexual orientation. Baka ma-tibo lang sila!!!!

Now, About MY Contribution to this Blog

Hey, hey, hey....whoever said I was going to contribute to this blog
design-wise? HAH! We never agreed on anything like that Mr.Q!!!! Well,
except for my color scheme suggestions and my "look at this page, look at
that design" comments, that's all you're gonna get from me. Sinabi na ngang
wala akong alam sa web design eh. Ok, Ok, Ok, I'll help!!! Just give me
instructions on what to do and I'll do it. But don't expect me to think ok?
My mind does not work with computer jargon, although I have made numerous
futile attempts to sound like I do understand. But to no avail, you know me
like the back of your hand Danes. Hahaha, so just agree with me that you do
the tech-y part and I do the glamorous bit....hahaha.

You were right about the color though....it IS a bit dark for me. I prefer
those with white backgrounds cos they look malinis to me. But then again,
there are some sites which make use of the black background & don't look
amateur at all.

The Guy Who Made CK Briefs Famous
I saw The Big Hit the other night on TV and I actually forgot that I'd seen
it about 23 times on HBO before. Can I just say I never thought highly of
Mark Wahlberg before he became an actor (c'mon, don't tell me you actually
liked Good Vibrations and his CK ads? -- ok, ok, the CK ads didn't hurt)?
But anyway, he was just way too cute for this movie. I won't even make
kuwento cos I know you're not interested in that. OK, just for you - Mark's
leading lady was an actress named China Chow who ironically played a
Japanese girl...hahaha. Anyway, she's pretty (but not your kind of Claire
Danes pretty) so I figure that wouldn't do much for you, eh? So anyway,
that was it. I wouldn't mind watching it again. Was The Big Hit a big hit
at the box office? How come I never heard of it before?

5:39:00 AM

I saw this article in the Manila Bulletin website. Wala lang, just another view on the coffee thang we’ve got back home.

How do you want your coffee?
By MINNIE I. SALAO

I'm sick of Starbucks. I used to spend some of my time and a lot of my
allowances hanging in this chic café. But I think the fuss over Starbucks'
coffee is out because the shop has lost its classy appeal due to its
overwhelming number of branches anywhere and everywhere (you see, I'm
rating-conscious), I decided to check out other coffee shops --Figaro and
Seattle's Best.

The ambience in these two cafés is different from that of
Starbucks, probably because of the kind of people who dine in the. You can
see almost all kinds of individuals in Starbucks- businessman or student,
a Makati-based employee or someone who joined Edsa 3. Figaro and Seattle's
Best fanatics, on the other hand, are composed mainly of executives and
socialites, men in their Lacoste shirts or Armani suits, women with LV
accessories and latest cellphones, talking about stocks or the newest fad.
For a while, I thought I could fit in their company. Everytime I enter
these places, I tried acting like a yuppie-in-the-making. And I got tired
of it.

Maybe Starbucks is where I really belong. Not that I am among those who
clamor for Erap's restoration in office, but at least I can meet them or
even discuss things with them, no matter how perverted their views are.

Okay, it's not really about the coffee. It's not about the drink's flavor
nor the cup's design and size nor the 'power' you add to your aura. I go
to Starbucks because I like their caramel frappuccino and I love looking
at how students smirk at the prices, listening to the baristas call out
artists' names instead of real people's names and overhearing
conversations about work, love, God, the Philippines and life.

Hanging out in Starbucks is more than sipping a hot cup of coffee for a
break after a load of work, or refreshing with an ice-cold frap during a
summer's heat. For most people, coffee is a catalyst and a revitalizer, it
starts their day and makes them last the whole day. For many, the
enchanting smell of coffee gives them a relaxing feeling to open up
themselves and share insights and emotions on facts and issues.

Starbucks may be compared to the salons where the French intellectuals
meet to discuss matters during the Enlightenment. Yes, what entices me to
stay and pretend my glass is still not empty are the groups that talk
about the country's situation, in their loud, excited voices that drown
out the shop's background music. The topics range from the latest gossip,
as hot as Café Americano, to the oldest news item, colder than my favorite
frap. It entertains me to hear conversations on the facial expression of
GMA when she warned the Abu Sayyaf (Isang bala na lang kayo!, with eyes
staring blankly at the camera). Or I flare up as I discover that there are
still people who believe that Erap's innocent. And I smile when I see
young students debate on election results like adults.

Starbucks is a reflection of a miniature, more secured, less complicated
world. (Perhaps God drank coffee when he took a rest after the creation!)
It serves us a mixture of ideas, a flavored-kind of life. A simmering
coffee provides a grandé taste of your 'power' to make meaningful choices
for a creamier, enjoyable adventure. Unless you prefer black...

( P.S. I plan to have my own coffee shop, everything at affordable prices
so even Erap fans can avail of it and when they go out of the cafe,
they'll be Erap supporters no more ?)

No need to guess....<b>

Of course, that quote came from Ally McBeal but there's no need to guess whom you got this from....I know.
It's from you-know-who....so, what's the deal? Ahem ahem.....I'm afraid I'm a bit behind with the gossip.
Care to update?

**Guess where or whom I got this from?

There are some people who meet that somebody that they
can never stop loving, no matter how hard they try. I
wouldn't expect you to understand that, or even
believe it, but trust me, there are some love that
don't go away. And maybe that makes them crazy, but we
should all be lucky to end up with that somebody who
has a little of that insanity. Somebody who never lets
go. Somebody who cherishes you forever."

PIPE DOWN BITCH!

**I wanna apologize for my cluttered thoughts on my last blog entry...please look at the time stamp...I should have been sleeping at that time. But no, I had to Blog...f**ck!!!

Regarding the Blog look...missy it's not a golf ball...it's a geodesic dome. Those are isoceles triangles glued together by equations and postulates till they form a sphere...or a dome--whatever! You get the drift! Yeah I know it's math but as long as it looks good it's okay...geez whiz, I think you look gorgeous with a trigonometric funtion on you. Duh?! A very lame pick-up line.
About the existing look, yeah I know black isn't your thing. It's a bit a guy site actually. I did make one site for the Blog with the color scheme we agreed upon...I swear to God ang ganda but I can't put it here...it doens't come out right. BlogSpot doesn't do justice to my work...bobo talaga 'to! Sayang since I really worked big time for the fucking new blog look and I ended up using the templates here! Nyark!

What if I ask you to make a new blog look and send it over to me...the HTML file and I'll put it all together? :o) Bwahahahaha! User talaga...pero I really don't have much time to spare these days.

Hay naku, I am doing an 8-hour inorganic synthesis in the lab today! Meaning I have no time to blog long here since instead of facing the computer, I'll have to stare at my laboratory setup for 8 freakin hours and make sure that: 1) the temperature never goes down or up 80 degrees celcius, 2) the whole thingee stirs well throughout, 3) it is continously pumped with nitrogren gas. Hay naku, another carcinogen-filled day for me...I can see cancer around the corner waiting to take a leap towards me!

Now the YOU part of this darn it blog!
You wake up that early? Ako I don't...though I make it to work by 8am...I LIED! Hehehehe, I get to work a little after 9am...alrighty by 10am. I have to watch Breakfast kasi till 8am...then take a shower and get dressed for another hour and give one hour more for travel time and I'm in by 10am. LOL...in theory this is how it is. But you know me too well bitch...

Breakfast moved from ANC to Studio23 early this month. Same format pa rin...but a bit jologgs. They became jologgs in a way since they are really not good in speaking tagalog on the show. Sana straight English na lang like before...siguro for them to have a more MASA appeal or broaden their market. Hello? As if the kikay stuff they discuss in the show appeals to most of the Pinoys? Will an ordinary person be interested in spas and gourmet cooking or fine dining in Cafe Provencal or Cafe Breton? I don't think so. Thank God they didn't become like Alas Singko y Medya or Unang Hirit. Do you know that the infamous Hans Montenegro is now a regular host in Unang Hirit...believe me when I tell you na hindi siya bagay dun! I wonder what Jojo Veloso's favorite show these days are...pahawak nga! LOL

Hoy kinky girl, what's with the so many rituals you have to do before going to work. Blowdry? Hmmmmm, sino nanaman pinag-papa-charmingan mo diyan? What a term-- pinag-papa-charmingan...hilarious! So you wanna be back here? You really wanna go back home? Stamp your feet three times and you'll be back in the ghastly, God-so-unloved country of ours in a jiffy. Pero if you'd rather have a miserably sticky, stinky, oily, wet, life here...umiwi ka na nga!

TRY THIS OUT: To help you have fun while working (as in have an Oprahfied day) do this for a change in the office. All your computers are linked as in a network (LAN)? And you guys have a more or less a program to get in touch with one another ala MSN or Yahoo Messenger? Start spreading rumors telling them you slept with this guy and he was bad in bed and you had better sex with his bestfriend since he let you be on top sort and domineering kind of lies. Then post an ad that you are into BDSM sex and you want to be spanked. Also, tell one girlfriend how the boss made a pass at you one sunny Sunday afternoon and you were so horned up and you ended up having sex on top of your desk with all your papers and staplers and paperclips all around making a kinky scene. Lastly, come up with a top 10 or more list of the guys with the funkiest spunk in your office. This will create rage, riot and you can even be fired but who cares? You had fun naman diba? This is having fun while at work--an Oprahfied day! The Oprah thing here is that you were able to do two things all at once...the scandalous lies isn't part of it...I fabricated it all to optly apply Oprah's philosophy! LOL O ano, game ka? :o)

6:20:00 PM

Ayoko Na

It's 6:54AM and I'm getting ready for work.....yaaaaaaaak, ayoko na. I just want to go home. At least if I have to wake up at 6:30am back home it's a bit warmer and there's comfort in the noisy banter of such programs as Alas Singko Y Medya and Unang Hirit or Breakfast. Here, there are morning shows but they're just pure crap.

I gotta go and blowdry my hair and pick out what to wear which I have exactly 15 minutes to do but I know will take me at least 45 so I better go,go,sago!

Ewww...I actually sounded eager....lemme revert back to my "ayoko na" mode. Waaaah.....work work work. No play, makes me VERY inis.

2:00:00 PM

DELAYED BLOG POSTINGS...]

Sorry for the unblogged days...I think I just rather have some things left unblogged! LMAO!
But seriously, I have been really doing som work..serious work for the past few days. I have been sandwhiching my review sessions in between...sandwhiching na nga in between pa! OVER!

I saw that e-mail RE Ma'am Delo...the one who really called out our names like a real English lady! It's bad she has that dreaded disease. It's BAD! I wasn't able to read it at the daily but I got to ask a lot of people about it. Sad lang me that she has Stage3 cancer.

My dad said Chocolat is good! I wanna watch it but I think I should read the book first.

9:30:00 AM

Chocolat

I've just started reading the novel, Chocolat by Joanne Harris and I can't help but wonder what the movie was like. I've gone 158 pages so far and I can't imagine what the movie setting was....what part Johnny Depp played (well, maybe I haven't read that far yet)...how Juliette Binoche played the charmed-like character of Vianne Rocher.....

Now, it might just be my fascination with all things French but this is a novel that'll probably keep me up tonight. So help me God, cos I don't want to be late for work tomorrow.
